Little Creatures, the beloved Western Australian craft beer, is ushering in a new chapter as it celebrates its 25th anniversary with an exciting transformation of its Fremantle home. The brewery today revealed plans for a significant $10 million renovation, set to elevate the venue and create a fresh experience for beer lovers and visitors alike.
Nestled along Fremantle’s stunning Fishing Boat Harbour, the new Little Creatures Fremantle venue will be located at 42 Mews Road, just a stone’s throw from its iconic Great Hall. The revamped space will span two levels, offering breathtaking views and inviting guests to enjoy a variety of immersive dining and tasting experiences. Construction is expected to begin in May 2025, with a grand reopening planned ahead of the busy summer season.
Lion Field Sales Director, Danny Connolly, highlighted the significance of the investment, stating, “Little Creatures has been a part of the fabric of Fremantle for the past 25 years, and this significant investment marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the brand.” The project honours Little Creatures’ legacy while offering fresh new features aimed at delighting guests and drawing new energy into the Fremantle dining and entertainment precinct.
Mayor of Fremantle, Hannah Fitzhardinge, said, “A new venue directly on the Fremantle harbour waterfront is very welcome, and we’re thrilled Little Creatures can remain at their original site. This new space for Little Creatures will provide locals and tourists with an inviting place to enjoy some of the best views, beers and hospitality in WA.”
The venue will also feature a new family-friendly zone, The Den, a playful outdoor area where kids can explore while parents enjoy their drinks watching sports. This thoughtful addition makes Little Creatures Fremantle the perfect destination for families, friends, and anyone looking to unwind in style.
The Brewhouse will serve as the new tasting room, offering tours, merchandise, and a beer school. A redesigned kitchen and bar area will streamline service, and the refreshed menu will continue to showcase the best of Little Creatures’ offerings, including wood-fired pizzas, rotisseries, open flamed grills, and innovative new dishes that pair perfectly with the brewery’s signature ales.
The new venue’s design will blend Fremantle’s coastal and industrial heritage. Little Creatures will use local, sustainable timber to create a warm, rustic atmosphere, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality and sustainability. This will create a warm, inviting, and playful atmosphere. The design will pay homage to the history of the building and Fremantle’s storied past while offering a modern, dynamic space.
The construction and design of the venue will be managed by Dundee Rock, a 100% Aboriginal-owned builder known for its commitment to delivering high-quality results while creating a positive impact on the lives of Australia’s First People. This collaboration highlights Little Creatures’ ongoing commitment to diversity and sustainability, making the new venue not only a place for great beer but also a champion of local communities.
Little Creatures Fremantle’s transformation is more than just a physical upgrade – it’s an opportunity to celebrate a quarter-century of craft beer excellence and community engagement. As the venue prepares for its grand reopening, guests are invited to visit the original Great Hall which will be operating until October 2025. The venue’s new opening date will be confirmed soon, but rest assured, it promises to be a landmark event that will add even more vibrancy to Fremantle’s thriving dining and entertainment scene.
