  • XXXX has turned the sky above Sydney Harbour a distinct shade of Queensland GOLD with massive flying XXXX cans.
  • The cans displayed the 4064 postcode, home of the XXXX Castlemaine Brewery and Suncorp Stadium.
  • The move was a display of Queensland pride in the name of the Maroons, ahead of game 1 of the men’s State of Origin in Sydney.

In what is being described as the ultimate airborne sledge, iconic Queensland beer XXXX has officially taken the State of Origin rivalry to new heights. This morning, Sydneysiders woke up to a spectacle that turned the sky over the Sydney Harbour a distinct shade of Queensland GOLD.

To signal the start of the 2026 State of Origin series, XXXX flew its massive, four-meter-tall ‘Postcode’ cans directly over the heart of Blues territory, in the iconic Sydney Harbour, all in the name of the mighty Queensland Maroons. As game one kicks off in Sydney on Wednesday night, XXXX is showing that Queensland spirit is impossible to ignore.

By donning the ‘4064’ postcode, XXXX has transported the homeland of the Milton Brewery and Suncorp Stadium to the Sydney skyline, to make a sweeping statement of Queensland pride.

The four giant XXXX GOLD cans, each a beacon of Maroon pride, were navigated via high-tech drone formation across the Sydney Harbour, providing a golden crown over the Coathanger.

The custom helium-inflatable PVC cans are digitally printed to match the limited-edition XXXX GOLD Postcode packaging. This activation is a bold play by XXXX and Queenslanders to get first points on the board, teasing a response from New South Wales.

“XXXX has always been the heartbeat of Queensland pride, and there is no more iconic representation of that than our partnership with the QLD Maroons.”

“The postcode campaign is about celebrating the sunshine state and all of the communities that make it great. By bringing postcode 4064, representing the home of XXXX and Suncorp Stadium, the home of the Maroons, directly into the heart of Sydney, we’re allowing that pride to flow over the border as the series gets underway. It’s classic Queenslander mischief to spark some friendly state vs state rivalry before the game one showdown.”

Sam Thaiday, Maroons Legend, added: “I’ve been part of some legendary Origin rivalries, but watching four-metre XXXX cans soar over the Sydney Harbour takes the cake. It’s exactly the kind of bold, larrikin spirit that makes our state the best. It’s about letting the Blues know we’re here, we’re loud and proud. Seeing that 4064 postcode in the sky is enough to charge up any Queenslander to bring home the win.”

For a fifth year running, players are set to wear their own hometown postcodes on their sleeves this season to represent the local communities across Queensland that form the backbone of Maroon support.

XXXX is also offering footy fans up to $5M worth of instant prizes and cash to win by purchasing any carton of XXXX GOLD, XXXX Ultra or XXXX Ginger Beer in the ‘fan or fanatic’ promotion. More information on entering the competition and T&Cs can be found on the XXXX promotion landing page.
