Our risk-based assurance program independently assesses the strength and quality of our internal control environment and provides recommendations so we can always keep improving.
The LION Risk & Assurance (LRA) team helps leaders review existing controls, identify risks and develop action plans to mitigate and manage risk. Our Crisis & Emergency Management Plans are regularly reviewed and tested to ensure we can respond appropriately if anything disruptive happens.
We take external compliance reporting around issues of public interest such as tax and modern slavery seriously. This gives us opportunities to thoroughly examine our business practices and make changes that go beyond our legal requirements.
LION voluntarily adopts the ATO’s Tax Transparency Code, providing greater transparency on corporate tax matters to the community, as well as the Supplier Payment Code developed by the Business Council of Australia, ensuring eligible small business suppliers get paid on time. Our competition law policy is updated every year and any changes are reported to the board. Face-to-face competition law training is provided where appropriate, which is tailored to address specific risks faced by certain teams. Competition law awareness training is also provided to LION’s Leadership teams and the Board as part of leader capability training sessions.
All new starters (other than those deemed exempt) must complete an online competition law training module within 30 days of commencing with Lion – Pty Ltd, and everyone at LION (other than those deemed exempt) must complete the online module every two years. Regular reports are presented to the Board on competition law compliance. Our Policy Governance Team reviews all new policies and any major updates to existing policies.
