New high protein milk hits shelves with support from the AIS

Introducing The Complete Dairy, an all-natural, high protein milk backed by the Australian Institute of Sport

January 2016 (Sydney, Australia) – Protein is an essential part of a healthy, balanced diet and ideally should be spread across the day to form part of each meal. Unfortunately research shows Australians are only getting 15 per cent of their total daily protein intake at breakfast time[1].

Thankfully a little change, such as swapping your milk, can change a lot when it comes to spreading your protein intake across the day.

The Complete Dairy is Australia’s first all-natural, high protein and lower-lactose milk with 70 per cent more protein and 25 per cent less lactose than regular full cream milk[2]. The Complete Dairy has 15g of whole dairy protein in every 250mL glass, or approximately 30% of an average adult’s recommended daily intake of protein[3]. The new milk offers Australians an easy way to get more protein throughout the day, with nothing artificial and no powders.

The Complete Dairy is also the official milk partner of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), Australia’s high-performance sport agency. According to the AIS, there should be a focus on consuming adequate amounts of protein throughout the day as part of a healthy diet, particularly in the 24 hours after an exercise training session to help stimulate muscle growth and repair[4].

“The latest research shows protein goals – for general health or sports performance – are best met by spreading our intake of high quality protein into a regular pattern of meals and snacks over the day,” says Louise Burke, Head of Sports Nutrition at the Australian Institute of Sport. “While most Australians concentrate protein intake at the evening meal, The Complete Dairy is an easy, all-natural way to ingest more protein at other key times throughout the day, simply by including it in meals and snacks in many versatile ways.”

“We wanted to deliver a product that provides Australians with an easy way to get more protein into their morning routine to set the tone for a nutritionally balanced day,” says Anne Scott, Nutritionist at The Complete Dairy. “The cold-filtration technology used to make The Complete Dairy is an all-natural process that increases protein and reduces lactose content, without any additives. The result is a delicious, all-natural milk that’s higher in protein than other white milk.”

The Complete Dairy is part of the Lion Dairy and Drinks portfolio and is now available in 1L format for purchase at Coles and Woolworths in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia for an RRP of $2.99. It can also be found at Drakes and Foodland in South Australia.
