Lion announces a strategic review of the Lion Dairy & Drinks Business
11 September 2018: Lion has today announced a strategic review of the Lion Dairy & Drinks (LDD) business.
Lion CEO, Stuart Irvine said: “LDD’s turnaround phase is now complete. Over the last three years, LDD has made great progress in driving innovation, growing brand health, improving quality and service and stepchanging supply chain efficiency and agility. The investments we have made have grown profitability and created a sound platform for future growth with our high-quality brands and leading Australian cold-chain distribution network at its heart.
To build on those foundations, the LDD leadership team has developed a new growth strategy that would see accelerated innovation in high nutrition and better-for-you products and investments adjacencies, along with ongoing supply chain efficiency initiatives.
“In order to reach its full potential and deliver its nutrition-focussed growth strategy, LDD requires new capabilities and investment. It’s therefore appropriate before we commence another three-year plan to consider the best pathway forward for LDD.”
The strategic review is expected to take no longer than four weeks. All options will be canvassed, including retaining and investing in the business and a sale.
There is no change for customers or suppliers during this period and it is very much ‘business as usual’ for Lion.
